Easter Bikers replace the Easter Bunnies at HOPS
Posted in 2016, HOPS General, Images, Uncategorized | Comments Off
While many children are eagerly awaiting a visit from the Easter Bunny, children volunteers and staff had a visit from the Easter Bikers. Members of the Norfolk Advanced Motorcycle Club had a ride out from Norwich to the HOPS Saturday club at Thorndon. They kindly bought with them Easter Eggs and Easter crafts for everyone at HOPS.
More than 26 bikers met up close to Thorndon and roared onto the site as the children watched on in amazement as they parked up on the car park. HOPS warmly welcomed them into the setting for a hot drink after their chilly ride over. The riders chatted with staff and children and found out more about what happens at HOPS. Once refreshed the riders kindly agreed that the children could mount their magnificent motorcycles.
For many children this was the first time they had experienced this many motorcycles in one place, they eagerly took up the chance to climb on board and have their photographs taken.
We would like to thank Norfolk Advanced Motorcycle Club and their members particularly Gary Walton for organising this fantastic event for the HOPS children.
We hope you all enjoy the photos

AGM & Volunteer Awards 2014
Posted in 2014, HOPS General, Images, Volunteers | Comments Off
The 2014 AGM and Volunteer Awards were held on the 12th November, with 38 volunteers, parents, invited guests and trustees in attendance.
The awards are HOPS way of recognising the hard work our volunteers do throughout the summer. This year a total of 2476 hours were contributed.
This year HOPS presented a new award called the Sue Woolmer Award, in memory of a very dear member of the team who sadly passed away in 2014. The Sue Woolmer Award is given to a volunteer who has overcome personal adversity or difficulties. We were pleased that Adam Woolmer, Sue’s son, and Julie Copping, Sue’s sister, were able to present this new award to Bethany Barratt.
The Bett Barnard Shield for most promising new volunteer went to Sophie Goddard, and the award for the most improved returning volunteer was presented to Ellie Dickinson.
Both Bethany Alliston and Paige Turbidy were given Special Recognition Awards for their outstanding contribution during the summer of 2014.
The Chair thanked the volunteers for their continued hard work, and all volunteers in attendance were presented with recognition certificates.

Posted in 2014, Images | Comments Off
We are all ready for the fun to start again tomorrow having spent the weekend setting up.
This year we have colourful new VW camper tents, providing some shade from the sun which looks set to continue!
Over the next few weeks we will be enjoying a range of activities including workshops for music, arts and crafts. Tomorrow kicks us off with Kimmy’s Zoo and the bouncy castle.
Looking forward to welcoming faces old and new
