About Mid Suffolk HOPS

Established in 1978, Mid Suffolk Holiday Opportunity Play Scheme, know as HOPS is an activities based play scheme providing a wide range of specialist staffing, play equipment, activities and facilities, to enable  children and young people with disabilities and additional needs access quality activities tailored to meet their need.

It brings children and young people together who are socially isolated both by the disabilities they have and the rural locations in which they live.

HOPS activity days are for children and young people with disabilities who are between the ages 4 –16 years.

HOPS is based in a rural setting in Thorndon near Eye, Suffolk, taking place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through out the school summer holidays,  plus two days in school half terms. A Saturday Club was formed in 2003 which is held, twice each Month.

This unique Mid Suffolk scheme provides transport to our rural location from pick up points in towns and villages within the area of benefit, to enable the inclusion of all children and young people with disabilities irrespective of family circumstances, enabling carers to have a break from their caring responsibilities, allowing them the time to socialies with other family members and friends.
